Nutrition and Food are Fuel!!

Are you one of the 842 Million people in the world that are malnourished? Malnourishment is not only from not eating enough it is also from not eating the right types of foods.

Signs of undernutrition are:

  • unplanned weight loss
  • weak muscles or loss of muscle
  • feeling tired all the time
  • low mood
  • increase in illness or infections
  • slow recovery from illness
  • failure to grow at the expected rate
  • changes in behavior such as appearance unusually irritable, sluggish or anxious

Signs of overnutrition can lead to:

  • obesity
  • type 2 diabetes
  • cardiovascular disease
  • leaky gut
  • inflammation

Good nutrition is extremely important to living a happy, healthy, balanced life.

You can always start good nutrition at any time.  Here is one of my favorite breakfast recipes that will start your day off right!!

Overnight Oatmeal

Serves 1

½ cup of oatmeal

1 cup of yogurt

¾ cup of milk of your choice

½ cup of fruit of your choice

Optional – Add these items if you’d like: flaxseed, wheat germ, cocoa, shredded coconut, chia, hemp seeds, hemp powder, maca, camu, acai berries, cinnamon, and stevia.

1 TBSP nuts of your choice

In a Mason jar or blender cup add oatmeal, other dry ingredients, fruit, nuts, and add milk until all ingredients are covered.  Place lid on top tightly and shake.  Put in refrigerator overnight and enjoy in the morning.  Tip: Bananas – you can wait until the morning to add because they do turn brown.
